Curriculum

"Training in dance is a door into acquiring knowledge about how things work…The process of problem solving and inquiry produces bright minds. When the mind is sharpened through dance, its sharpness remains intact when applied to other forms of study." Alonzo King

Students in the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Summer Program experience a rich and varied curriculum during their weeks of training, working closely with a world-class faculty in both core and enrichment classes and with renowned choreographers on repertoire and newly-created pieces.

Students dance six days a week, with Saturdays as half-days and Sundays off. Dancers enjoy a high faculty-to-student ratio that ensures individualized attention throughout their busy and varied schedules.

Students study Ballet, Pointe, Men’s Class, Modern, Contemporary Partnering, Pas de deux, and GYROTONIC® with an enriched curriculum of Improvisation, Jazz, Metaphor, Afro-Brazilian, Hip-Hop and more.

San Francisco GYROTONIC® is located on the premises and has the most extensive array of GYROTONIC® equipment in the Bay Area. Under master trainer Debra Rose, this center provides GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® training, which complements the work of the program. The expert trainers, along with Physical Therapist Brion Charles, work directly with the students to help them understand and care for their bodies. For more information visit SF GYROTONIC® online.
